US stocks rise, Europe ends mixed
FXStreet (Córdoba) - Wall Street is rising on Friday, recovering after having on Thursday the worst day in months. European stocks finished mixed.
The Europe Stoxx 600 was down 0.08%; among country indexes, the UK FTSE 100 rose 0.16% while the Germany's DAX slipped 0.35%. The France’s Cac 40 gained 0.44% . In Wall Street the Dow Jones was up 0.61% while the Nasdaq was posting strong gains, up 1.30%.
In the US, economic reports showed that the leading economic index rose 0.3% in June, while the Consumer sentiment index from the University of Michigan the Thomson Reuters fell to 81.3 according to the preliminary reading for July, down from 82.5.
In the fx market, the US dollar lost momentum after Wall Street opening and trimmed gains versus European currencies. Gold is falling almost $10, retreating after rising strongly on Thursday but still holds above $1,300 while crude oil is flat, around $103 a barrel.
