ECB's Coeure: Asset purchases ready to be implemented but not yet needed
FXStreet (Łódź) - Speaking to reporters in Luxembourg ECB Executive Board member Benoit Coeure assured that there was no disagreement with the IMF on asset purchases, which were ready to be implemented but not necessary so far.
The ECB policymaker suggested that the Eurozone hasn't experienced excessively low inflation for too long yet. He stressed that EU national governments should increase productivity growth and the central bank would take further action on inflation if necessary.
The measures recently implemented by the ECB were aimed at accelerating price growth, Coeure declared, adding that negative rates have been a smooth process so far and that no adjustment on rates is expected in the nearest future.
