Poroshenko and Putin agree to start talks on deescalating crisis in eastern Ukraine
FXStreet (Łódź) - The newly elected Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko and Russian President Vladimir Putin held their first meeting today on the sidelines of the D-Day commemorations in France. According to French President François Hollande's office the two leaders agreed to start negotiations to end military action in eastern Ukraine in a few days and to take steps to deescalate the Russian-Ukrainian crisis.
“It was a normal, serious exchange between two leaders,” Hollande's office reported. "This marks tentative progress which he (Hollande) welcomes, particularly given this occasion so symbolic for peace.”
