UK PM May: Further clarifications from the EU on backstop are in fact possible

Below are some of the key highlights from the UK PM Theresa May's speech from the European Council:

   •  Will work with the EU on further assurances for parliament.
   •  I believe it is better to leave with a deal.
   •  Very clear from EU they want to ensure this deal gets over the line.
   •  This is the clearest statement we've had yet from EU on the backstop.
   •  EU stands ready to embark on the preparation of future ties. 
   •  EU firmly committed to having future ties in place so avoid backstop.
