President Erdogan: Turkish central bank is independent

Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan said Tuesday that the decision by Turkey’s central bank to raise its benchmark rate was a clear sign of its independence, according to Reuters.  

Erdogan added that as President he was against increasing rates.
