“Our earlier models had pointed to a larger gain, but after the downside surprises in both the manufacturing and construction PMIs over the last couple of days, we look for a more muted advance in the services index. We do look for services to outperform the other two sectors though, as we know that the holiday shopping season started out strong with solid November retail sales, and early evidence from December points to a decent month as well.”
