Trump administration orders deployment of guided-missile destroyer in the South China Sea

As Bloomberg reports, the Trump administration has ordered the deployment of a guided-missile destroyer near Triton Island in the South China Sea, according to a U.S. official.

The news, as Bloomberg notes, "may cause concern ahead of President Donald Trump’s meeting with his Chinese counterpart this week."

Trump is set to spaek with both Japan’s Abe and China’s Xi on July 2nd. The call with Japan’s Shinzo Abe is set to take place at 8pm EDT, while the conversation with China’s Xi Jinping is set at 8.45pm via a telephone call, according to a White House statement.
