Wall Street closed lower as investors sit in "wait-and-see" mode
Wall Street closed lower Monday and below record levels made last week.
The tone was risk-off/waitand see mode, evident in subdued yields still as investors remain concerned about various geopolitical issues and prefer to stay on the sidelines.
The London terror attack was the third attack in as little as just under three months amounting to nearly 50 dead and many more injured over the three atrocities. There was little from the calendar although what data there was came in below par and adds to the bearishness in the US economy. Later in the week, markets turn to the scheduled public testimony of fired Federal Bureau of Investigation Director James Comey.
Forex today: dollar remains within the bounds of lows within a minor recovery
In terms of stocks, the Dow dropped 22.25 points, or 0.1%, to 21,184.04, taken lower by shares of Apple Inc that were down -0.98%. The S&P 500 -0.12% fell 2.97 points, or 0.1%, to finish at 2,436.10, with seven of its 11 sectors finishing lower, with utilities, materials and industrials main losers. The Nasdaq finished lower by 10.11 points, or 0.2%, to 6,295.68.
