ECB to introduce new 10 euro banknote in September
FXstreet.com (Łódź) - ECB board member Yves Mersch announced at a press conference on Monday that the new 10 euro banknote would be put into circulation on September 23. It is the second banknote from the Europa series with improved security features and durability and featuring a hologram of the mythological princess Europa.
"The five euro and 10 euro notes are not always treated kindly. By protecting them better, we can prolong their service life and reduce their environmental impact," Mersch said.
In the upcoming years the ECB will proceed with launching banknotes of higher denominations: 20 euro, 50 euro, 100 euro, 200 euro and 500 euro.
