US private sector adds 147,000 jobs in October - ADP

US private-sector employment increased by 147,000 from September to October, on a seasonally adjusted basis,  Automatic Data Processing, Inc said Thursday.

This follows an upwardly revised gain of 202,000 in September (up from 154,000 initially estimated) and comes below market expectations of 165,000 new jobs in October.

Mark Zandi, chief economist of Moody’s Analytics, said, “Job growth remains strong although the pace of growth appears to be slowing. Behind the slowdown is businesses’ difficulty filling open positions. However, there is some weakness in construction, education and mining.”
