Canada: Wholesale sales up 0.8% on August

Canadian wholesale sales rose 0.8% in August to a seasonally adjusted CAD 56.83 billion , Statistics Canada said Monday, marking the fifth consecutive increase in a row. 

Expectations were for a 0.6% gain following a rise of 0.1 % the previous month, downwardly revised from 0.3%. On a year-over-year basis, wholesale sales increased 3.7%.

In volume terms, wholesale sales climbed 0.8% in August.
