USD/RUB weaker below 64.00 on oil gains

The Russian Ruble is appreciating further vs. its American peer on Tuesday, dragging USD/RUB to session lows in the 63.90/80 band.

USD/RUB lower on Brent

RUB met extra buying pressure today following a generalized better tone in the riskier currencies and commodities, with the barrel of Brent crude gaining nearly 3% in the mid-$47.00s so far.

In the meantime, spot is extending its consolidative theme in the lower end of the range below the 64.00 handle, levels last traded in November 2015.

USD/RUB levels to watch

At the moment the pair is retreating 0.56% at 63.83 facing the next support at 63.42 (2016 low Jun.9) followed by 62.04 (monthly low Nov.2015) and then 60.70 (monthly low Oct.2015). On the other hand, a surpass of 64.41 (20-day sma) would expose 65.25 (55-day sma) and finally 65.80 (high Jun.24).
