US House Speaker Boehner to ask for debt limit increase

FXstreet.com (Barcelona) - According to AP sources, the US House Speaker John Boehner is planning to ask House Republicans for a short-term debt limit increase, so that the country could meet its obligations before the October 17 deadline expires.

The House Republicans begun talks on the matter yesterday but it is not clear yet whether they will also push for adding budget cuts and other criteria to the legislation that will raise the debt ceiling.

Boehner is expected to announce the decision on the debt limit extension following a meeting with GOP members later today.
