China boosted treasury holdings in April
FXStreet (Mumbai) - China's holdings of US Treasury securities grew for the second month in April, while Japan reduced its holdings to nearly 2015 low.
China added USD 2.4 billion of the Treasuries to USD 1. 2634 trillion, up by 0.2%, the Treasury Department said on Monday. Japan, which overtook China as the biggest foreign holder in February before trading places again in March, cut its holdings by USD 11.2 billion in April to USD 1.2157 trillion.
Meanwhile, Russia held USD 66.5 billion in US Treasury securities in April 2015, down from USD 116.4 billion in April the previous year.
Major foreign holders of US government debt in April 2015 held USD 6.14 trillion, down 0.6 % from a record USD 6.18 trillion in March.
