‘I think that by the 9th of May we will have an agreement’ – Greek PM Tsipras

FXStreet (Mumbai) - Speaking in a three-hour interview on late Monday, Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras said that Greece's government is hoping for an interim agreement on a reform package this week or next week. The deal would include some Athens' concessions like privatizations.

Tsipras quoted, "I think that by the 9th of May we will have an agreement.”

"Our priority is our responsibility towards society, it is pensions and salaries"

Greek PM defending Finance Minister Yanis Varoufakis against accusations, "There is a negative climate but I believe that this part of the negotiating game,"

"Part of the negotiating game is to deconstruct the person who sits opposite you at the negotiation table."

The prime minister ruled out early elections, but he did not exclude holding a referendum on the matter.

"If I end up having an agreement that puts me outside the limits (of my mandate), I will have no other resort,"

"The people will decide - obviously without elections, I want to make that clear."
