US Initial jobless claims fall to five week low

FXStreet (Mumbai) - The data released by the US labor department today showed the initial jobless claims in the week ended March 20 fell to a five-week low of 282K, against the expectation of 290K. The previous week’s figure stands at 291K.

Continuing claims rose to 2.416 million against the expectations of 2.403 million. The previous week’s figure was revised higher to 2.422 million from 2.417 million. The 4-week moving average of the initial jobless claims, which gives a more accurate idea about the labor market strength fell to 297K from the previous week’s figure of 304.75K.
