USD/CAD reaches fresh 1-week highs

FXStreet (Córdoba) - USD/CAD pushed a tad higher and reached fresh weekly highs above 1.2550 at the beginning of the New York session.

USD/CAD extended gains to a high of 1.2552, last seen Feb 12, as the greenback remained firm following better-than-expected US jobless claims data. Meanwhile, the loonie has been under pressure on Thursday tracking oil prices, which have lost nearly 3%. At time of writing, the pair is trading at 1.2533, recording a 0.63% gain on the day.

USD/CAD levels to watch

As for technical levels, USD/CAD could find next resistances at 1.2552 (daily high), 1.2571 (Feb 11 low) and 1.2600 (psychological level). On the flip side, supports are seen at 1.2500 (psychological level/21-day SMA) and 1.2435 (daily low).

The Goldman Sachs Team shares the US real GDP growth forecasts for 2014, 2015 and 2016, expecting personal consumption and investment to be positive for growth.
