USD/RUB deflates to 65.40

FXStreet (Edinburgh) - The Russian ruble is partially recovering ground lost vs. the greenback, with USD/RUB now gyrating around 65.40/45.

USD/RUB still up despite ceasefire

The cross is coming down from session highs beyond 67.40 as the ruble managed to claw back some gains after Russian President V.Putin ratified (another) ceasefire in the conflict with the Ukraine. The agreement states that heavy weapons must be removed from the area, with Russia withdrawing both soldiers and support to the pro-Russian forces (separatists).

USD/RUB key levels

As of writing the pair is up 0.48% at 65.44 with the next resistance at 67.47 (high Feb.12) and then 69.00 (high Feb.5). On the downside, a drop beyond 63.81 (low Jan.26) would expose 62.93 (low Jan.23).
