UK industrial production weaker than expected
FXStreet (London) - The seasonally adjusted index of industrial production increased by 1.1 percent between November 2013 and November 2014 according to data released by the Office for National Statistics. This reflects an increase of 2.7 percent in manufacturing. The index printed level with the October reading but disappointed expectations of a 1.6 print.
According to the ONS, partially offsetting this increase were decreases of 7.4 percent in the electricity, gas, steam & air conditioning sector, 2.1 percent in the water supply, sewerage & waste management sector and 0.7 percent in mining & quarrying.
The seasonally adjusted index decreased by 0.1 percent month-on-month. This reflects an increase of 0.7 percent in manufacturing. Partially offsetting this increase were decreases of 3.7 percent in mining & quarrying, 1.3 percent in the electricity, gas, steam & air conditioning sector and 0.4 percent in the water supply, sewerage & waste management sector.
