Expect a bounce in the US consumer sentiment index – Nomura

FXStreet (Barcelona) - The Research Team at Nomura expect the US conference board consumer confidence index to bounce in December on the back of lower gasoline prices and robust jobless claims data.

Key Quotes

“The Conference Board‟s measure of consumer confidence surprised to the downside in November, in contrast to other measures of consumer sentiment and improving consumer activity. Based on the robust level of the preliminary University of Michigan consumer sentiment index for December, lower gasoline prices, and initial jobless claims, we expect to see a bounce back in this index. As a result, we expect the Conference Board‟s index to increase to 93.0 in December from 88.7 in November.”
