Flash: Long USD as generic trade still core theme - Societe Generale

FXstreet.com (Barcelona) - Playing a USD long position is still the recommended advise by Sebastien Galy, senior currency analyst at Societe Generale, saying the currency should continue its longer term bid, with the occasional position adjustment.

In the US, as highlighted by Galy, expectations of QE tapering is hitting the UST curve and hence EM curves, who thinks "this should help cool the broad commodity complex with the rise in the USD acting as an accelerator." In the adjustment that Galy sees forthcoming, AUD is the currency that should continue to suffer the most.

ECB denies report OMT program is limited

The European Central Bank has categorically denied reports over the weekend carried by the Frankfurter Allgemeine Sonntagszeitung newspaper, in which central bank sources were cited as saying the ECB had set a limit of €524 billion on any potential intervention to assist EU countries in need, under the Outright Monetary Transactions scheme.
