Wall Street jumps on Friday but closes the week with declines
FXStreet (San Francisco) - The US Stocks market closed the week with a strong note as major indexes posted around 1% gains in the day and they cut weekly losses; however the advance wasn't enough to close the week with gains.
Investors welcomed upward revision in the Q2 GDP that final figure showed an increase of 4.6% from 4.2% informed previously. Consumer sentiment also rose in September.
The Dow Jones climbed 166.97 points on Friday to close the week 0.97% down at 17,112.77. The S&P 500 advanced 16.86 pts or 0.86% to finish at 1,982.85; 1.3% negative in the week.
The Nasdaq Composite added 45.45 pts or 1.02% to finish at 4,512.19; 1.48% negative in the weekly basis.
